About MCIC

Originally called the IDEA Investment Club, the Manhattan College Investment Club (MCIC) started in 1998 by a group of students that saw an attractive opportunity to integrate real stock investing experience into the college's business curriculum. Beginning as a partnership, members were required to give a minimum investment of $250 to join. Despite the rather large initial investment, the club garnered sufficient enough interest to build an adequately sized portfolio ($10,500 under management at the time).

Today, MCIC has extended its reach well beyond the Manhattan College campus, with connections to many financial institutions and investment conventions in Manhattan, as well as many alumni who visit as guest speakers and recruit interns. MCIC has grown to be a great way to start your career in the financial world.

WHAT WE DO

We offer students from all schools at Manhattan College a chance to gain valuable investment experience that is useful not just to someone in the financial world but to anyone who wants to make their money work for them and have to grow for the future. We provide an understanding of how to buy and sell stock as well as the research needed to make informed investment decisions. In addition to this, we give students the opportunity to use state of the art Bloomberg Terminals located in the Finance Lab. Each student that joins the club will get a Bloomberg login that they can use at any time. Bloomberg software is the leading research tool and is used by almost every financial institution there is.
